Rab-a-bit is a café set amid the rice fields of Mae Rim, offering a laid-back atmosphere that feels a little removed from the bustle of Chiang Mai city. The café’s two buildings, including one with outdoor seating closer to the fields, invite visitors to enjoy their drinks and meals with views of distant mountains, making it a quiet spot for slow mornings or casual afternoons.

This café is especially good if you want a relaxed breakfast or lunch. The menu leans into local flavors with dishes like Pad Thai, spicy prawn spaghetti, and fried rice cooked with shrimp oil, which have been appreciated for their straightforward, satisfying taste. Coffee here is a highlight—expect solid traditional options including espresso-based drinks and a local take on iced coffee known as Kaffee Yen. For those who want something simple, americano and iced tea are also available, though the drink selection isn't very broad.

The atmosphere at Rab-a-bit is casual and easygoing, attracting both locals and travelers who prefer to linger over a meal or coffee without rush. Staff are friendly but keep things informal, and the café operates more like a fast-casual spot where you order and pay upfront and then wait at your table.

The best time to visit is during the morning or early afternoon when natural light accentuates the rice fields and mountain backdrop, making it a pleasant place to unwind or work quietly. While seating is partly outdoors and benefits from the surrounding greenery, it can get busy on weekends or holidays, so arriving earlier might help secure a spot with the best views.

Overall, Rab-a-bit fits well in the Mae Rim area for those craving a serene café experience tied closely to the local landscape and simple, comforting food. It's a good stop for people looking to start their day gently with coffee and breakfast or to take a slow lunch break amid natural scenery.

If you have a chance to pass by Mae Rim, Chiang Mai, I highly recommend this café. It’s beautiful even before you step inside, with a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by rice fields. The food is delicious ~~~~ we tried Pad Thai, spicy prawn spaghetti and fried rice with prawns. The Pad Thai is a must-try, so tasty! The lemonade is also very refreshing. Such a lovely spot, definitely worth a visit.

Super lovely breakfast/lunch spot. All dishes are clean and delicious. We love the bacon spaghetti, grilled cheese and all the coffee drinks, especially the orange coffee. Great view of the mountain!

Food is pretty good but with limited choices, is kind of like a fast food joint where you pay first and get your food at the table later. The shrimp oil fried rice was quite nice and the grilled cheese is great. Drinks wise is also limited choices, they just have coffee or ice tea or sodas…….

Relaxing place to have a coffee or a meal. Looks like there are two buildings, one more close to the paddy fields with outdoor seatings. I had only coffee and some pastry here. The croissant I had was very tasty and coffee was very good. Most importantly the view of the mountains over the paddy fields was beautiful. Although the day I visited this place was a busy day (it was during the Christmas break), the staff was friendly and efficient.

The cafe is located not deep in the village. Not hard to find. The parking is big. It's a big cafe surrounded by a paddy field which is so breathtaking and mesmerizing. We ordered drinks here and it turned out to be very nice. The service is good and fast. The staff is very helpful and cute. There are few outdoor and indoor seating that you can choose. Most importantly the cafe and toilet is very clean. The decoration is also very simple and aesthetic. It's worth it for those who want to come and spend your time hanging out with friends. The environment is very calming where you can enjoy the outdoor view or indoors decoration which ever you prefer.

Beautiful restaurant, very classy. Food was the best we’ve had in Mae Rim - absolutely delicious. Pricing is fair also - I would have paid double for the quality. Cooked perfectly and so tasty. Breathtaking sunsets too!

AC and beautiful view. Service is great. But the shrimp pasta was unbelievable. One of the best I ever had! Spicy, giant shrimps, pasta cooked al dente! Very impressed. Hidden gem
